NYU’s good fortune in having Elle Motekaitis for her 5th year cannot be overstated. Her impact contributed to an almost upset of Emory at UAA’s, and her presence on relays at NCAAS could lead to multiple relay titles this year!
What does anyone think the impact of 5th years is this year on D3 swimming and diving? It does seem like the big D3 schools with large graduate programs like NYU, Chicago, MIT, Emory and others have gained a lot but it is hard to tell how much that impact is.
It seems relevant to point out that in the 2024 NCAC meet, Denison lost the men by 44 points 1889 for Kenyon, 1845 for Denison (with Wabash scoring 1218.5). This year, Denison men scored 2061.5, 419.5 points more than Kenyon’s 1642 points (with an improved Wabash team scoring 1339.5). This seemed like a combination of the Denison men getting a strong class of Freshmen and a couple of very good transfers and Kenyon losing a strong class from last year’s powerful team. I’m sure Jess Book and Dani Korman are working hard recruiting their own strong class of incoming newcomers next year.
Not a conference record but, Denison Men’s 400 FR was a Denison team record 2:55.32 with Freshman Nick Hensel leading off in another Denison team record 43.64. Their 3rd leg was 44.56 but he was 44.39 flat start in the 100 free final so there could be a 2:54 there if they all hit their times. That relay was an impressive time especially since Denison went 3:01 last year. The Denison relay was made up of a freshman, 2 sophomores and a senior.
Wow! Denison is on Fire! And, if he keeps this up at NCAAs, Kenyon’s Djordje looks like the front runner for swimmer of the year!

I believe the men’s 800 Yard Freestyle Relay was a conference record as well, the old pool and conference record were the same
Thanks - will update
