There's a key difference between being smart and being intelligent and no school fulfills this definition more than the University of Chicago.
Easy like for continuing to call Kenyon the "Lords" (sidenote: the men have yet to win the division since the name change). Additionally, Kalamazoo College's and CSCAA Hall of Famer Jeff Gorton deserves a mention for the greatest DIII diver.
Appreciate the comment. I wish I had a better method for evaluating divers across the seasons. Glad you mentioned Jeff Gorton. Might hazard a post on him.
Yea, diving scores are basically fake when comparing different eras. The best method I've found is to see the gap between the champion and the field in terms of score.
Now you get it. The name "shootout" was taken out of context in this article. It doesn't take a genius to realize the meet wasn't named D3 shootout because there are shootings in Chicago. Using context clues will lead one to understand they're talking about an exciting and intense event.
Or choosing the name "shootout" for the meet is in bad faith due to the context of the city where the meet is taking place in. Of course it wasn't named the "shootout" because of Chicago shootings but it doesn't take a genius to see the negative connotation with the name and location and how it almost makes light of the situation. Again, this is the smallest of problems to get actually angry about, but let's not operate with blinders on.
. Clearly in a sporting context shootout is an innocuous term. I never considered the connection to CHI area shootings until this post and I’m gonna go out on a limb and say I’m not in the minority.
Keep an eye on U Chicago’s new graduate transfer, Ben Catton!
Yes, from Hope. Dude’s fast.
