This is one of the best examples of swimming journalism I've read in a long time. Anyone interested in collegiate swimming below the Power 5 level can't help being captivated by Mr. Filion's journey.

Last year (as in spring of 2023), Monarch HS actually placed 4th at the CHSAA 5A State Swim

& Dive Championships! Not 10th as stated in your article.

That’s fantastic. Great job from them. It sounds like an impressive team.

I updated my reference to be more specific - that I was referring to the Men’s team, and considered the full state ranking, not just 5A, and that I used SwimCloud’s rankings based on swim times, not the outcome of a championship meet.

Big picture: this is a really good program heading in the right direction, but not a legacy dominant program considered the best in the state or region year after year (unlike, say, Phillips Andover).
