This is one of the best examples of swimming journalism I've read in a long time. Anyone interested in collegiate swimming below the Power 5 level can't help being captivated by Mr. Filion's journey.
That’s fantastic. Great job from them. It sounds like an impressive team.
I updated my reference to be more specific - that I was referring to the Men’s team, and considered the full state ranking, not just 5A, and that I used SwimCloud’s rankings based on swim times, not the outcome of a championship meet.
Big picture: this is a really good program heading in the right direction, but not a legacy dominant program considered the best in the state or region year after year (unlike, say, Phillips Andover).
Love the Upper Arlington reference! Go bears

Thanks. Appreciate the support.
And agree that Mr Filion’s story is both extraordinary and full of lessons that are more broadly applicable.
Last year (as in spring of 2023), Monarch HS actually placed 4th at the CHSAA 5A State Swim
& Dive Championships! Not 10th as stated in your article.

Ha - thanks. The Upper Arlington grads have a lot of (well-deserved) pride.
