Such an excellent article. Crow is a wonderful captain, teammate, friend, and person. You captured that so well in this piece and I’m proud of him for sharing his story. I have been so impressed, but not at all surprised, by his unwavering commitment to the team and his teammates. Through all of this, my mind continues to return to the MLK Jr. quote “the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” In this time of challenge Crow has shown the wonderful person he is. Thank you for covering his story.
Crow is seriously one of the nicest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. I can’t count how many times he’s gone head-to-head against our best swimmers and beat them, but it’s impossible to be upset about him winning. He’s everything you could ever want in a competitor and I’m excited to see where swimming takes him next.
Perfectly written and accurately depicts the internal anguish this young athlete must have experienced. My husband survived ventricular fibrillation purely because he was in the ED when it happened. But he was shocked about 14 times. I’m an ED nurse and have seen such loss from cardiac disease. Kudos to his coach for recognizing the urgency of the situation. As a grandmother of a swimmer at Emory, this story brought tears to my eyes and a lump to my throat. I know the love these athletes have for their sport, each other, their team, and their school. I know the hours of practice, and discipline it takes to get to this level. I can’t imagine how it feels to think it might slip right from under you. When I struggle to understand and to ask “Why”…I recall Jeremiah 29:11
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
My granddaughter also swims for Emory. I have only heard the best about Crow and the program. His future will be wide open. His skills go beyond the water. I hope he is surprised by the opportunities waiting for him.
I have a senior athlete, I cried my heart out reading this. All I have is gratefulness for the sport and this incredible young man. Thank you for sharing your moment! See you in Greensboro❤️

God has great plans for you, Crow.
